“Creating” electrical contacts
Where there are electric switches, there are always electrical contacts.
Electricity is necessary for our daily life.
There are many different types of electromagnetic switches, each for carrying and cutting off various electrical capacities.
As well as manufacturing contact configurations tailored to our customers' individual needs, we have pioneered the development of contact materials for use with all types of electricity.
Selecting materials to meet our customer's criteria, we then develop and produce our products – creating products together with our customers is our company mission.
We have been in business as a specialist maker of electrical contacts for over 70 years and, pursuing our mission. We have built up a customer base from a wide range of industry sectors both in Japan and overseas.
As we face environmental issues, energy-saving and increasing prices for scarce materials, supporting our customer's business by creating ever more innovative products remain our priority.
New technology
Rivet contact

- From solid types to triple layered types (PWBT)
- Three material combination layered contacts
- Extra thick chip contacts
- Extra thin chip contacts
- Solid head part with copper bottom
bit staking

- Bit staking is ideal for customers who undertake the staking process themselves instead of using rivet contacts. It removes the need for our customers to use silver and significantly reduces costs.
Stability and reliability of contact resistance

The following are our projects to reduce contact resistance and make electricity stable.
- Reviewing molds and tools when producing contacts.
- Improving cleaning processes.
- Adding contact resistance reduction process.
Value analysis for costdown
Reducing the cost of electrical contacts is a universal industry theme.
Reducing silver weight
- Solid contacts (rivet or wire) are generally used however, do contacts always need to be solid types?
- To maintain the strength of bonded parts of contacts, have there been limitations due to the thickness of chips?
- Is it possible to increase the use of composite materials instead of pure silver to reduce cost?
- Is it possible to increase the use of composite materials instead of pure silver to reduce cost?
Reviewing of Gold/Silver Plating
- Is it possible to improve contact resistance without using Au and Ag plates?
Reducing assembly cost
- Is it possible for us to undertake processes which customers would otherwise outsource to a third party company or do themselves?
Au・Ag plate
We specialize in the use of Au and Ag contact plates.

- Improved scratch resistance of contact surfaces with use of plates.
- Plate layer remains stable after staking (reduced difference in contact resistance before and after staking).
- Reduced cost for customers as we undertake the plating process.
Approach to recycling
We have improved our refining business!
Silver is an essential material for making contacts and is a precious natural resource. With prices ever increasing, at Chugai Electric Industrial Co., Ltd, we refine used silver in-house.
We collect scrap contacts from our customers. After refining, we calculate a refined silver price (based on our calculation standard) and pay this back to our customers.
We refine silver of 99.99% purity in-house and, after analyzing, we recycle the material for use in new contacts.
